Description

The official Appalachian Trail maps are essential hiking materials for both thru and section hikers. Each map is focused on the Appalachian Trail and overlaps with the neighboring maps, ideal for long-distance hikes and planning. The surrounding area and additional side trails are also included. An easy-to-use elevation profile shows the distance to the next campsite or shelter, side trails, and water sources. For added interest, maps indicate road crossings, waterfalls, and scenic areas. Maps are both water- and tear-resistant.

The North Carolina-Georgia edition, revised in 2017, covers 167 miles from Fontana Dam through the Nantahala and Chattahoochee National Forests to Springer Mountain, Georgia. This set includes four maps on two sheets.

  • Maps 1 & 2: North Carolina-Georgia; Fontana Dam to the Georgia State Line, Nantahala National Forest
    Seven-color, 1:63,360-scale topographic maps with 100 foot contour intervals. 1 inch = 1 mile.
  • Maps 3 & 4: North Carolina-Georgia; Bly Gap to Springer Mountain and Amicalola Falls State Park, Chattahoochee National Forest
    Seven-color, 1:63,360-scale topographic maps with 100 foot contour intervals. 1 inch = 1 mile.

I was pleasantly surprised on the detail and quality of this map. It is rip proof and water proof. Packs nice and small with not a lot of extra wasted space and size. The elevation profiles make this map stand out as EXCELLENT! Highly recommended.

Only AT map I've ever owned. Seriously, it was a great help in planning my section hike. Easy to write notes on for use on the trail.

    The Map is good.

The map is very good.. The only problem that I have is trying to figure out which map to buy. On the website I did not find a key for seeing just what area the map covered. It says, North Carolina/Georgia, and while I did not think that it would cover the whole two states, I was disappointed to find out how little it does cover. I did see the reference to the beginning and ending point, but I did not know where to get that information. Possibly I could have found the info I needed, but I just didn't know how. Anyway, the maps are very good and I simply ordered the adjourning set. Obviously I wasn't too disappointed. Thank you for making these maps available.
