The official Appalachian Trail maps are essential hiking materials for both thru and section hikers. Each map is focused on the Appalachian Trail and overlaps with the neighboring maps, ideal for long-distance hikes and planning. The surrounding area and additional side trails are also included. An easy-to-use elevation profile shows the distance to the next campsite or shelter, side trails, and water sources. For added interest, maps indicate road crossings, waterfalls, and scenic areas. Maps are both water- and tear-resistant.

The North Carolina-Georgia edition, revised in 2017, covers 167 miles from Fontana Dam through the Nantahala and Chattahoochee National Forests to Springer Mountain, Georgia. This set includes four maps on two sheets.

  • Maps 1 & 2: North Carolina-Georgia; Fontana Dam to the Georgia State Line, Nantahala National Forest
    Seven-color, 1:63,360-scale topographic maps with 100 foot contour intervals. 1 inch = 1 mile.
  • Maps 3 & 4: North Carolina-Georgia; Bly Gap to Springer Mountain and Amicalola Falls State Park, Chattahoochee National Forest
    Seven-color, 1:63,360-scale topographic maps with 100 foot contour intervals. 1 inch = 1 mile.

  1. Good for spectators too! 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on Mar 20th 2020)

We purchased to follow our hiker. CCP-Coroavirus changed everything.
The on-line sales process worked well and we use our PayPal link to handle the payment with no disconfugulties.
Maps good to us. Hope we get to use next year.

  2. Where’s the Book? 3 Star Review

    (Submitted on Oct 25th 2019)

I Googled this under ISBN 978-1-889386-99-7 for the Appalachian Trail Guide. It was my understanding that if you ordered the guide book you would receive the map also, but I was more interested in the book as I already had the map. I guess it’s partly my fault for not reviewing it closer and realizing I was only ordering the maps.

  3. Good maps, but a touch small 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on Mar 9th 2019)

Wish the maps were a bit bigger and I wish I had have realized that the trail guide was necessary and was only a out $4 more.

  4. Did not have what I wanted 3 Star Review

    (Submitted on Mar 1st 2019)

Must be more Ga trails maps because these two did not have what I wanted. These look nice but my trail is not on them.

  5. A Guide to success 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on Feb 24th 2019)

Having those maps makes it easy to figure out how far I can go and how hard it might to be. Planning on going shelter to shelter, since this will be my first time on the AT. It's gonna take 2 years to be in good enough shape to attempt a portion and this helps me set reasonable daily limits to plan and train for.

  6. Very detailed....a high quality map. 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on Nov 21st 2018)

I was pleasantly surprised on the detail and quality of this map. It is rip proof and water proof. Packs nice and small with not a lot of extra wasted space and size. The elevation profiles make this map stand out as EXCELLENT! Highly recommended.

  8. Best AT map I've ever owned 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on Mar 22nd 2018)

Only AT map I've ever owned. Seriously, it was a great help in planning my section hike. Easy to write notes on for use on the trail.

  9. It is a map 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on Mar 7th 2018)

Nicely done and waterproffed, the proof of the pudding is when you walk on it

  10. The Map is good. 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on Mar 5th 2018)

The map is very good.. The only problem that I have is trying to figure out which map to buy. On the website I did not find a key for seeing just what area the map covered. It says, North Carolina/Georgia, and while I did not think that it would cover the whole two states, I was disappointed to find out how little it does cover. I did see the reference to the beginning and ending point, but I did not know where to get that information. Possibly I could have found the info I needed, but I just didn't know how. Anyway, the maps are very good and I simply ordered the adjourning set. Obviously I wasn't too disappointed. Thank you for making these maps available.
