This 18" Appalachian Trail necklace is a unique representation of the 2,193 mile footpath stretching from Georgia to Maine. Each of the 14 states the AT passes through is represented by a different colored bead, and the number of beads corresponds to the mileage per state. Each necklace comes with a movable ring that can be moved along the necklace to track a hiker’s progress along the trail or mark a special place. This necklace is a perfect gift for the hiker in your life, a celebratory or inspirational piece for yourself, and can even be worn by those at home to follow their favorite hiker along the trail. This necklace is constructed of durable waxed cord, a sterling silver clasp, and sturdy glass beads.

It's not long enough. at 18" it does not fit, but I like it and will get an extension

My 11 year old daughter and I are working our way through the trail -- between sections and a thru attempt. This is a simple, elegant and beautiful necklace that -- other than sleeping, showering and working out -- she hasn't taken off since getting it in the mail. She loves seeing the ring to mark our progress and reading through the card that comes with the necklace explaining why each bead was chosen to represent each state and which trail location each bead represents. As her dad I not only enjoy seeing her passion celebrated, but also the mindfulness and reflection on our trail time that this necklace has sparked.

I recently ordered and received the square bead necklace and I love it! It is made very well and the beads are colorful. I love that it is representing the AT and the thur-hiking journey I hope to do in the future. I would recommend this.
